I’m a family man with five children, 18 grandchildren, and 23 great-grandchildren. I enjoy serving in my church, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I have had great opportunities in my life and an eclectic work history; in my 20s, I trained wild animals for movies and television and did stunt work with them on shows like Gentle Ben, Daktari, I Dream of Jeannie, Bewitched, and Tarzan. I was also a professional boxer for 10 years before I entered the insurance industry in 1971.
I was born in Ohio, raised in Michigan, and spent 17 years in Alaska, where I worked for the Trans-Alaska Pipeline. I left the Alaskan freezer for the Florida fire in 1994 and, two years later, met and married the love of my life, Ron Adams. In 1999, we moved to magnificent Tennessee where we enjoy spending time with family and worshipping and serving the Lord in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Steve Kurtz began his career in 1984 with the prestigious investment company Dean Witter. Throughout Steve’s career he has advised clients on stock portfolios, annuities, and life insurance. Steve is currently a financial advisor with Impact Wealth Partner where he advises clients on managed portfolios. He is also an insurance agent with One Family Financial, joining the firm in 2016. Steve graduated from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga where he played football. Steve has two children, Betina and Johnathan and one granddaughter, Bailei.
Originally from central Florida, I joined the Air Force after high school and served for over 22 years in the financial management arena. During my time in the Air Force I developed a methodical approach to accounting and budgeting that helped hundreds of service members save money and prepare for their retirement. While on a military assignment to Alcoa, Tennessee, I fell in love with the Smokey Mountains and always knew I wanted to live and work somewhere in eastern Tennessee. I joined the team here at One Family Financial in January of 2020 after retiring from the Air Force and have been able to continue to help people meet their financial goals and ensure they can enjoy their hard earned retirement.
